Protecting your children from diabetesTwenty years ago, the majority of diabetes cases among children and adolescents was Type 1. But the growing incidence of juvenile obesity has caused an increase in the number of cases of Type 2 diabetes among children. If you do not control diabetes, this disease can cause kidney problems, blindness, cardiovascular illnesses and amputations. Latinos, like other ethnic minorities, have a much greater risk of developing diabetes. It is a principal cause of death. Here are some ways to protect your children from this disease:
